A Bad Picture

Dog Blog Post #197: I tend to save my "best" photos for Wordless Wednesday and the Saturday Pet Blogger Hops - "best" being relative, of course, as my equipment consists of a little Sony point-n-shoot and I barely know how to use it.

Since I don't know what I'm doing, I try to compensate by taking lots and lots of pictures, hoping to get something I'm not too embarrassed to upload.

When I first saw this picture, I laughed. It belongs with the Teething shots (a dead Asparagus Fern frond, I believe) but when I saw Henry's Bloodhound ears and Zachary's Zombie Face I just couldn't bring myself to add it to the bunch.

It's terrible!

But I should have.

Because the picture makes me laugh.

Yes, I know the lighting is horrible (from behind, and not in a good, artsy sort-of-way) and the giant BBQ looms the background throwing a big old shadow across the boys, and Zachary is past hope that lunch is actually going to happen and is running on autopilot.

What the heck was I thinking when I snapped it???

But every time I look at it, I laugh.

And so here it is, in a place of honor, at the very top of the post.

I hope it brings a smile, and if so, then perhaps it wasn't such a bad picture after all.

  1. It's not a bad photo at all. It's just delightful and it really made me laugh too. And that for me is the essence of a great photo. Never mind angles and lighting and exposures...if the picture makes you think or feel or makes a difference in any way - then it's wonderful in my book.

  2. I love real pictures! We all strive after these visions of the perfect photo, as if competing with "professional" standards, which is fine and helps us grow and learn, but still it is these real pics that capture the essence of our dayd to day existence. I have one, Magnus in the snow, it is DREADFUL he looks miserable and I shouldn't be amused but he was taken during a stunning "get to my crazymomlday as fast as doggedly possible" recall and it has a good memory. But truly he looks dreadful in a make me laugh really hard kinda way.:) Maybe I should post it in sympathy for this one, but really this pic is awesome. It is real life in the good sense. Thanks for sharing!

BTW, how would you like listed on the 2011 Walking Challenge? I will link here if you'd like or any other of your sites. Just let me know.

  3. I love it! Not all of the photos that I use are that great technically, but I think most of us who use photos agree that we take a lot in hopes of having a few decent ones. I love the puppy's expression!

Yes, a whole month! I would not lie to you! ;)
