"Pretend you're a stringer for your local newspaper today. Make a photo that captures something newsworthy to you."
Newsorthy?
You have got to be kidding.
The irony here, is that this probably wasn't that hard of an assignment for most folks. It's not like my local newspaper is the New York Times. It's a few sheets thick, comes out once a week, and is delivered in the mailbox.
Just about anything from exhibits at the local library to fund raisers at the high school to the latest Boy Scout Eagle project can find prominence amongst its pages.
An atmospheric picture of local potholes, cracks in the pavement, or a bent stop sign would probably have sufficed. But how to integrate the dogs?
Hubby did offer the suggestion of the dogs doing their business on the lawn with a caption about the evils of not picking up after your dog. (Nixed)
And then there was the suggestion about the state of the local fire hydrants from a dog's perspective. (Nixed)
And then... well... it really did go down hill from there.
And then I remembered the Yule Log shot, and I figured, why not? While the premise had already been done before here, I hadn't uploaded anything like it to the Daily Shoot, and so I decreed it to be fair game.
The Missing Skill of the Day? Henry's definition of down is looking more like push-ups these days. He drops for a millisecond, then pops right back up again for his cookie.
Arg!
The Positive Thing? Zachary remained firmly on the ground despite Henry popping up and down.
Local residents keep an eye on the storm's progress. |
I love this photo! Great job! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a problem with Wally popping up from a down, but he's still just learning it. We really need to start focusing on duration. It's always something! ;)
Ha! What a great take on the topic. I LOVE these photo posts. :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteHa! What a great newsworthy shot! I love it!
ReplyDelete*sigh* I feel your pain on the down situation. We go through that here, and I've yet to find a permanent cure.
Woof! Woof! Pawsome Newsworthy Photos. Golden Weather Radar ... Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea for a newsworthy photo! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteElyse and Riley
We had that problem with Koly, his down was really more of a pogo stick kind of move, we figured it had to be a throwback to puppy class when we did "push ups" (Stack-down-sit; repeat). Took furever to re-learn down! Love your photos, as usual :)
