I smells cookies! |
It's sooooo hard to figure out which ONE picture to upload for the daily shoot. Hearing which shots people like and why helps me to figure out what's working and what needs more work. :)
The Daily Shoot assignment for today?
Make a photograph from an unusual point of view.
And it was another day of "I haven't a clue what I want to shoot," so I strolled around the backyard with balls and cookies and snapped whatever came into view.
I ended up tweeting the one up top, with the following description:
These sorts of shots were MUCH easier to get with the old point-n-shoot! Trying to get down far enough to point the long lens up, while holding the camera in one hand, and a cookie up as high as I possibly can in the other - I must make quite the sight!
(Good thing our yard is fully fenced.) :)
A few other contenders are below...

Pleeeeeease can I have cookies? |

Cookies? or Lacrosse Ball? |
Can you guess which dog this is? |
The B&W above is my second stab at this shot. Yesterday's came out too dark, and I couldn't figure out how to get what I wanted from Aperture. Today's came out just as dark, but I think I had better luck with Aperture bring up the contrast without created a sickly speckled dog.
I used the droppers to set the black/white points, squishing the grays (that caused the speckledness when I tried to lighten it) to pretty much non-existance. I wish I had thought of that for yesterday's shot, which had a better composition, but at least I think I know what to do now.
(Sigh I miss shooting on "the set". I miss the sort of weather that made shooting on "the set" possible (ie: cool - so I can turn the lights on. Yeah, I know, whine whine whine. I know there are folks out there much hotter than we are (for a change!))
No Scavenge Challenge. I shot some, but didn't get them uploaded. Will have to wait until tomorrow. :)

I love how you can see the snout and nose texture so nicely in that first shot. I could stare at that all day :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going for Lacrosse Ball and Zachary in the B/W. And I too love the photo of Henry with his eyes almost shut and smiling:)

I really like your choice for the DS yesterday! It's getting tough to think of different perspectives for those unusual POV shots.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that has to be Zachary in the black and white shot today.
For every sleek muscle in a greyhound, your dogs are so luxuriously soft looking.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I left my settings for the running shots on the blog tomorrow morning.
Even though I don't always leave comments, I wanted to let you know that I ready your posts almost everyday and truly enjoy your pictures!
