Dog Blog Post #439: Today's Daily Shoot assignment was:

Make a photograph dominated by dark tones today.

While I had several hours to think up what I was going to do, I only had 10 minutes to actually do it. And those 10 minutes looked something like this:

• Put the dogs in a Down
• "Good Boys!" - give them both a cookie
• "Stay!"
• Go to the table (16' away) and get the cards
• Return and put the cards down
• "Good Boys!" - give them both a cookie
• "Stay!"
• Go to table (16' away) and get cookies for pot
• Return and put cookies down
• "Good Boys!" - give them both a cookie
• "Stay! Leave it!"
• Go to table (16' away) and get cookies for Zachary
• Return and put cookies down
• "Good Boys!" - give them both a cookie
• "Stay!" Leave it!"
• Go to table (16' away) and get cookies for Henry
• "Good Boys!" - give them both a cookie
• "Stay! Leave it!"
• Go to tripod. Take a few pictures
• Good Boys!" - give them both a cookie
• "Stay! Leave it!"
• Retrieve a big handful cookies and put back on table then return
• "Good Boys!" - give them several cookies
• "Stay! Leave it!"
• Retrieve most of the rest of the cookies and put back on table then return
• "Good Boys!" - give them the remains of the cookies
• Snatch camera off tripod before they finish

Whew!

In this case, in order to avoid having to put up "the set" (as that takes me at least 5 minutes to put it up and another 5 to take it down) I moved to a corner of the family room that would give me a respectable background, at the cost of having really poor lighting.

This resulted a rather drab looking picture in its RAW state with visible noise (not surprising for ISO 3200!) So I ran it through the "toy camera" filter, which darkened the edges and increased the contrast. Then I turned it sepia, which I hoped would turn that noise into a feature and fit the mood of the shot.

I also used this for Our Daily Challenge assignment - "Phobia" - as in:

"Do you really want to know what your dogs do when you're away?"

Well, do you?  :)

How about a Scavenge Challenge shot or two...

6) Show some portion of the moon at any phase using the best zoom factor you can manage.

... this was heavily cropped, and sharpened just a bit, but otherwise untouched. I was shocked by how crisp and clear it was. In the original (uncropped) image, the moon appears just a touch bigger than the dark grey nearly-circular patch ("Mare Serenitatis") at top center of the moon.

22) Find a cow. It doesn't have to be real, but it must be three-dimensional. No pictures!
