Daily Dog Challenge 410. "Cinematic Feel"

Editor's Note: Sorry, no storyboard or story today. Despite thinking about the challenges off and on all day, I had zero idea of what to shoot until I started setting up the backboard and lights. At the point, while standing in the study looking around aimlessly for prop potentials, I spied a stack of empty manila envelopes.

I immediately thought of photos, and shot just sort of came together after that.

This is the first time I tried using my lights this way, and so thought I'd share what I did...

Behind the Scenes

This shot was all about the lighting.

Today I tried putting the CFL's close together, without umbrella's, and using NO additional lighting.

The lights are neither bright enough nor hot enough to cause problems, even with the boys sitting close by.

When shooting, the boys were on the opposite side of the table and for most shots I was sitting directly under the lights with the all-important cookies and camera remote.

Behind the Scenes

Obviously, for the shot above, I'd turned the CFL's off and put the Speedlight back on the camera. :)

  4. I need to look into these lights. I have been using my speedlight and it bothers Kodee. I have OK but not great natural light and think your lights would be just a little extra umph for me.

Love the creative shots you come up with!
