Doing the laundry is way too Complicated these days.
Cold water. Hot Water. Delicate. Dry. Don't dry. Dry Clean. Don't dry clean. Bleach. Don't bleach!!!
Good thing I have my helpers to sort it all out for me.

Zachary is a very smart dog and loves to learn, and so I taught him to empty/fill a laundry basket.
FWIW: I videoed his progresses, and you can see a young (~1.5 years old) and slender Zachary on youtube. Videos are a couple minutes apiece. The first one I had really bad camera location (my laundry room is small) but the rest are better.
Those who comment on my "calm" dogs might be surprised - especially by video 3. :)

He's still good at it so long as there are more clothes either on the floor (or in the dryer) or in the basket.
Once they reach equilibrium, however, all bets are off as to which way items will get moved.
