Dog Blog Post #2010

I was sneaky and dropped a couple cookies in the bag.

Silly me, their super sniffers quickly identified what would have otherwise gone Unnoticed and they rummaged around until the Cookies were uncovered.

They seem to Appreciate (and trust) their sense of smell more than any other sense.

Dog Blog Post #2008

The Modern Wonders on demand, battery powered light and (reasonably) unbreakable plastic allows for all kinds of fun shoots.

I would never dream of trying this if those bulbs were made of glass!

Photography Assignment

Fun shoot.

I tried several settings to get things focused, not too dark, yet allow the light bulb's glow to show through.

The settings for the shots of Zachary are: f/2.8, 1/50s, -2.0EV, ISO 100.

For Henry's shots (above) substitute 1/60s. Henry's shoot is always first, and after checking the camera LCD when I switched dogs I thought the images were a bit dark, hence the slightly slower speed for Zachary.

The lone exception is the bottom shot of Henry at: f/2.8, 1/25s, -3EV, ISO 100 - a rather slow shot for a living (breathing) creature, even one as steady as Henry is.

It was one of my first shots and I was still fiddling with the knobs, but I liked it none-the-less.

For reference, my usual settings - used for all "studio" shots that aren't specifically trying for some sort of special effect - are: f/7.1, 1/160s, 0EV, ISO 100, which equates to a smaller aperture (less light allowed in but greater depth of field so more of the dogs are in focus), shorter exposure (no movement blur), and leaving the flash at full power.

Hmmm... I actually have no idea if those two videos going to play properly here, having never tried to embed Flickr videos in Blogger before.

Apologies in advance if they do not.

Rip and Shred

Rip and Shred
(rip shred) (rip shred) (rip shred)

Henry, I think Dad has some tasty nibbles for you...

Rip and Shred
Henry: "Huh?"

Dog Blog Post #2006

A few happy-snappy iPhone shots taken this morning as the boys (Henry here, as Zachary was in the shadows) enjoyed playing with the wrapping paper and empty cardboard boxes.

They also love to help you unwrap the presents.

All you have to do is get a bit of the paper peeled away as a start and they rip the rest off with gusto!

Then they shake the paper and play keep-away for a while, before finally settling down to some contented ripping and shredding.

This "enrichment activity" was part of our Christmas gift to them, and they enjoyed it mightily!

The second shot had a few Photoshop artistic filters run on it, for grins and giggles.

Editor's Note: ex-pen on the left fences in the Christmas tree.  :)

Rip and Shred
Henry: "Coming!"

The boys had a wonderful day, mooching treats and pets from the Grandparents in between ripping paper and boxes.

Not wishing to be called a Scrooge, I gave the boys the day off from their modeling duties.

But I expect them ready all the earlier tomorrow!   :)

Merry Christmas!

Alas, White Castle Sliders (shown) have onions on them that proved impossible to remove, and onions are a no-no for dogs.

So for only the second time (that I can think of) the boys were not able to eat an otherwise edible prop.

Instead, they feasted on grilled chicken with cheese sprinkled on top.

There were no complaints.
