He is actually completely unconcerned about missing Cookies, and doesn't even try to chase after them when Zachary is in the room.

Which is probably just as well, as Zachary has Hoovered them up before Henry even realizes that he missed.

Nope, Henry isn't worried - doesn't even flinch - because Henry knows Momma always has more.

Which is why, if there are a limited number of treats for some reason, we always make sure Henry gets his first.

Good Dogs

Hand-held today, varying only slightly in POV and aperture.

I took eight shots in total, and I'm not sure Henry budged an inch.

I believe he got nine of those Cookies when I was done.

PLUS his regular Modeling Fee Cookies.

PLUS his after shoot Cookies (which are really, Really, REALLY good Cookies).

It's good to be a dog model.

With temps over 105F outside, and over 80F inside in the parts of the house hit hardest by the afternoon sun, neither the boys nor I had any interest in setting up the "studio".

So I took a happy-snappy of Zachary sleeping the evening away, and decided I would Focus on pushing sliders to try to make the best of this low-light, higher ISO iPhone shot.

We Fits We Sits

No, they don't usually pile up on the Love Seat like this.

But the Big Sofa, which is where Zachary wanted to be, was temporarily off limits while I used it as a convenient spot to sort through some stuff.

So Zachary hopped up onto the nearby Love Seat instead, on that nice squishy pillow (dog left), and looked unhappy.

Alas, that's where Henry wanted to be.

So Henry hopped up onto the only spot left on the sofa (dog right) and looked equally unhappy.

Sometimes it's rough to be a dog.

Editor's Note: Their unhappiness was because they couldn't be where they wanted to be, not because they were on the same sofa.

When I'm lying on the Big Sofa, with my legs curled up beside me, Zachary will often join me using my legs as a pillow, and then Henry will be at the far end of the sofa using Zachary as a pillow.

Probably not one of my wiser decisions, although I do admire their enthusiasm.

Our Daily Challenge - July 24, 2016 - "Lots and Lots of Color"

This is most (but not all) of my assorted colors of Crushed Panne Velvet. It's an inexpensive (regularly ~$6/yd but it goes on sale frequently), washable, indestructible, non-wrinkling fabric that is often used as a cheap velvet substitute for costumes.

Missing are a hideous blue-green color, which clashes with the boys golden fur, plus a white and a cream that are great for high-key shots but would have stood out too much here.

Off the top of my head, I've used these for backdrops, pillow covers (large and small), capes, a giant santa bag, a hat cover, table clothes, blankets, and stage curtains.

I've never actually sewn it as you can do wonders with safety pins, rubber bands, and binder clips, and then shake it out when you are done and it's as good as new.

"I wish I may, I wish I might..."

Sorry guys, I don't think you can wish the fabrics folded.

At least that never works for me.

If they are "looking" for something - a toy or a treat - it's their noses that my boys follow and trust above all else.

Henry was back at the vet to have his Hot Spot and ears checked, with Zachary along this time for his annual physical.

Other than Zachary needing to drop a "few" (cough) pounds and one of Henry's ears still looking a bit questionable, all is well.

But they were exhausted afterwards - wears a guy out to be so popular - and so you get a Happy-Snappy iPhone shot.

Cone of Shame

That's an Elizabethan Collar, Henry, which you were supposed to wear when your tummy was so sore.

But we worked really hard to make sure you didn't have do.

Henry: (sniff sniff sniff)

It goes over your head and ties around your neck.

Henry: "He he he... good one, Momma. No seriously, what is it?"

That is Henry's Cone of Shame, left over from his recent bout of Hot Spot.

Well, it would have been, had he actually worn it.

But we just couldn't do it.

Those big, sad eyes. His obviously unhappy self.

We just couldn't bring ourselves to make him even more unhappy.

Thankfully, we were able to rearrange things to keep an eye on him all day long, and after the Vet shaved off the fur and put some Magic Medicine on it, he basically just left it alone.

Even Zachary left it alone.

So, in the end, all things considered, Henry was one lucky puppy!

I rather like how it came out, so don't be surprised if it reappears in the near (or distant) future.

The fabric is a recent purchase from the Remnant bin of my local fabric store.

It's a soft black mesh with gold flecks.
