Zachary: "Henry, do you see that?"
Henry: "Yup... it's The Thing Under The Sofa that nobody believes is there but me."

Yikes!

FWIW: I took the pictures above today, and EVERYTHING else in the page (regardless of the day label) yesterday, as I've been trying to finish up Zachary's blue brocade outfit (finished yesterday).

Margaritaville
(singing): "It's Five O'Clock somewhere..."

Margaritaville
(more singing) : "... in Margaritaville..."

Margaritaville
Henry: "Zzzzzz"
Zachary: "We haven't even gotten to Jose Cuervo."

Our Daily Challenge - May 7, 2017 - "Lyrics"

"Wastin' away again in Margaritaville"
-- "Margaritaville"

... or maybe...

"Pour me somethin' tall an' strong
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care
It's five o'clock somewhere"
-- "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere"

There's always "Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo".

As I enjoy Country music, I could probably sit here and do this all day. :)

The Emperor's New Clothes 18/52
The Emperor's New Clothes

Zachary, in a blue brocade outfit, lined in black flannel, that I finished just this afternoon. He's standing next to the very first "costume" I made for him, back in summer of 2011 (see comments), made from felt, buttons, and double-stick tape.

Our Daily Challenge - May 6, 2017 - "What??? This Old Thing?"

His Blue Brocade outfit is the latest in a rather long line of recent efforts to create something "nice" and fits.

It follows the general plan of the Zebra outfit, but the pattern was completely recut so I could add a seam behind the shoulders as well as the one in front. So I now have a back, two shoulders, two fronts, and the collar.

AND

I think I have discovered the true origin of that classic tale: The Emperors New Clothes.

Here's wikipedia's synopsis (link at bottom): "two weavers promise an emperor a new suit of clothes that they say is invisible to those who are unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent. When the Emperor parades before his subjects in his new clothes, no one dares to say that they don't see any suit of clothes on him for fear that they will be seen as "unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent". Finally, a child cries out, "But he isn't wearing anything at all!"

HOWEVER

I think the REAL story is that the weavers made the clothes out of Brocade. And while I bet the emperor was wearing a lovely suit when he first left his castle, by the time he got to town it had frayed away to nothingness. His subjects were just trying to save the weaver's jobs when the kid just had to blurt the truth out.

Seriously.

Brocade seems to disintegrate simply sitting on the table.

All pieces had to have their edges done in a (very slow) overcast stitch, and then I edge stitched all seams but the collar seam, as they refused to lay flat.

While I'm completely smitten by the fabric, it is certainly not something to choose if you want to make something in a hurry.

Cinco de Mayo
Handsome Henry...

Cinco de Mayo
... showing of his equally Handsome Hat...

Cinco de Mayo
"Zzzzzzz"

I raided Son's room again.

This is the sombrero he and his fellow scouts (crew members?) wore during their week hiking at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch - a great idea of one of the adults in the group.

The hat was branded with the Philmont brand (visible on the brim on a different shot), shot (intentionally! and also visible on a different shot) and has seen many, many miles of hiking.

Son discovered that wearing a broad-brimed hat eliminated the need for sunscreen on your face, and he hasn't gone hiking without one ever since.

Alas, his current hat isn't nearly as dashing as this one.

Fun photos.
Zachary looks a bit sloshed at 5pm ... in Margaritaville.
Poor Henry - too much partying for him!
I like the blue brocade. It's a nice contrast to their gold fur.
